sfage Posted December 7, 2012 Share #23 Posted December 7, 2012 Well, let's just hang on, here. I've looked through some of "our" forum galleries and suffice it to say -- they're not very inspiring. A picture of your roast beef dinner is (probably) not what we all had in mind for "other". A picture of someone else's art is not "other" either. valerio Posted February 2, 2013 Share #24 Posted February 2, 2013 Hi Guys, I have a question: I have submitted some of my images to the LFI mastershots; now, when I look into my albums, they all appear in the Inbox. Does it mean they have been rejected or they haven't been looked at by the judges yet? I'm just a bit confused, because it doesn't say anything about this in the FAQ section, so I just wondered if any of you have a clue. Thanks! sblitz Posted February 2, 2013 Share #25 Posted February 2, 2013 if it shows up in your in box they have been rejected as master shots. they may still, however, appear in the categories section at some point in the next week or so. do not downgrade the value of categories. first off, there are less of them added per day per week. also, i had one shot rejected as a master, accepted into urban life and the photo ended up in the LFI magazine as an example of a 90mm elmarit lens. valerio Posted February 2, 2013 Share #26 Posted February 2, 2013 Hi sblitz, thank you for the explanation. Hopefully some of my pictures will end up in the Categories section. Without wanting to sound overly critical, I think that some of the pictures in the mastershots should not be there, as other people in this thread suggested. I don't think of myself as a master - far from that - but I fail to grasp the criteria used to select a mastershot... Maybe with time I will understand! valerio Posted February 4, 2013 Share #27 Posted February 4, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) I actually wrote an email to the LFI gallery and asked if I could get some feedback on why my shots were rejected. I think it's fair - in general - that if you reject something, you explain the reason. I just hope they won't think my email as too bold and banish me from ever be published in the Master Shots sections and/or the various Categories... earful Posted February 4, 2013 Share #28 Posted February 4, 2013 hmmm. there's a kind of lighthearted disclaimer to the effect that not every shot can be chosen, etc. when there are hundreds or even thousands of photos being submitted, no one is going to stop to do feedback on those that are rejected. look for a site of fellow enthusiasts who will offer constructive criticism if that's what you want. otherwise, just keep practicing your craft and submitting what you feel to be your best work. Actually, they already replied to me and said they will come back with feedback I think it's very nice of them and I have to say I'm impressed with the speed of their reply. However, I do agree with you it's not going to be very practical to do that for every photo they reject. Anyway it's good to know that if you do ask for feedback, they are willing to give it to you. For me personally, I'm interested in everyone's opinion on my photos and I indeed submit them to the judgement of my fellow Leica lovers in this forum! earful Posted February 5, 2013 Share #30 Posted February 5, 2013 that's an interesting turn of events. hope it's all to the good. let us know if you think it's valuable or not.
valerio Posted February 5, 2013 Share #31 Posted February 5, 2013 Well, on the Master Shots FAQ page they said that if you have a question, you can simply write them an email, so I did. My point is that I want all to understand know is if I did something wrong while submitting the photos and/or there's something wrong with the pictures themselves. I'll let you know the outcome!
