masjah Posted May 2, 2017 Share #21 Posted May 2, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello again, I would just like to ask, still concerning my R8 broken lightmeter. I have tried to use again my R8 using other meter modes. It works well but I have to set a higher ISO to compensate the broken center-spot metering. But the batteries in the camera discharge very quickly. I manage to shoot a couple of shots and then I put it in my bag. After two weeks the batteries are completely empty. It happens everytime I buy new batteries. Is it possible that this can be influenced by the broken metering? How come the camera discharges the batteries when it´s off? I love this camera and it makes me sad if I have to put it on the shelf again It may actually be a completely separate fault. A friend of mine had an early R8 which ate batteries, and had to go back under warranty.
Advertisement Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Hi masjah, Take a look here Leica R8 centre-spot metering stopped working. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jip Posted May 3, 2017 Share #22 Posted May 3, 2017 Like John said, It may or may not be related... my fully functional R8 is one of the later 'Made in Portugal' ones... which functions fine and lasts about a year on a set of batteries with occasional shooting. unikad Posted May 4, 2017 Author Share #23 Posted May 4, 2017 Thank you very much for your answers, gentlemen. I´m afraid I´ll have to put it back again on the shelf Or use it only for shooting close to home:( What a pity, it was a great camera to work with!
