Developing a roll of 36exp Acros 100 in my Paterson System 4 tank (bought new earlier this year), as I poured the stop-bath out, the tank's funnel/light trap somehow 'unlocked' and came away from the tank. Panic. It took me a couple of seconds to relocate it and then pour the fixer in. Gloom and doom - thoughts of fogged frames / ruined images of my latest foray to France and Spain. Having finished fixing and washing, I tentatively pulled the film of the reel and hung it in the shower - phew, there are images! Have only quickly glanced at them but could not see any immediate signs of fogging. Will have to wait for it to dry now. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

In theory (not that I'd want to test it) you could take a stopped-but-unfixed roll of film out of the can and wave it around in the light for several minutes without fogging - just so long as you do not put it back in developer. I wasn't concerned about development continuing Adan, but with any remaining undeveloped silver-halide being exposed to light, so it is interesting to read that it is not likely to be an instant disaster. My point was more that simply exposing silver halide to light doesn't produce a visible change (conversion to metallic silver - an image, or fog) except over very long periods of time - minutes at least. And that exposed (but undeveloped) silver halide dissolves away in fixer just like unexposed silver halide - much to the sorrow of photographers who accidentally pour fixer into the tank as the first step. Fortunately no fogging. Hope you are as lucky. Same happened to me--also no problems. My funnel doesn't click into place (must be defective).
