Olsen Posted October 26, 2012 Share #21 Posted October 26, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ferrari presently delivers just over 80% of their cars with their dual clutch F1 transmission rather than manual. Indeed. It's practically an automatic transmission! God forbid! If Ferrari enthusiast can accept introduction of automatic transmissions with manual (servo) overdrive, why can't we Leica users accept AF? The old Ferraris, like the one I bought back in 1990 (same automn Saddam Hussein attacked Kuwait, a 308GTBi Quattrovalve - first Ferrari with fuel injection) needed pointed Italian shoes to make the clutch reach the bottom and 'dentist's precission' to find the right gear. It had 240 hp, compared to the 211 hp my Audi of today and weighed about 100 kg less. A rather primitive car, but the only car I have sold for the same price I gave for it: 345.000 NOK three and a half years later. My wife could not stand it: It brought on too much attention. Particularly from men! - Which must have suited the next owner well, a famous homosexual actor here in Norway.

pop Posted October 26, 2012 Share #22 Posted October 26, 2012 (...) why can't we Leica users accept AF (...) I don't know about you. I have accepted AF most happily. In cameras made for AF with lenses made for AF. I then have bought some cameras of the M type with their beautiful lenses with the explicit purpose of manual focusing. I do promise, however, that I won't use any Ferraris any time soon for the hauling of bricks or yachts.
