J Mitchum Posted March 17, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can someone explain what the warranty is on the M7 please? I've heard at least 4 versions so far... Â A) Older M7s have 3-year passport. Older M7s have 3-year passport with a postcard offering 2-year extension for $125. C) Newer M7s have 3-year passport and 5-year automatically. D) All M7s have 3-year passport and 5-year retroactively upon registration. Â

peter_n Posted March 17, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted March 17, 2007 I purchased my most recent M7 in October of 2006 and my Passport warranty is the same as Jerry's, an inital 3 years with an option on a further 2 years which can be purchased at any time during the first 3 years of the warranty. leicabug Posted March 17, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted March 17, 2007 I bought my M7 on 03/25/04, and was informed at the time that I have 5-years warranty, first 3 years being passport.
J Mitchum Posted March 17, 2007 Author Share #5 Â Posted March 17, 2007 So it seems you used to have to pay for the extra 2 years but now Leica automatically upgrades it to 5 years upon registration? At what point did they change this and what happens if you do pay for the 2 year extension? Does that make it 7 years then? Â
leicabug Posted March 17, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted March 17, 2007 At the time of purchase, I called Leica to cofirm 5-years coverage but the warranty card I received later only stated 3-years passport. I suspect that it should be 5 years in their computer. I don't remember when Leica started and ended the 5-years coverage. Maybe Leica still honor 5-years coverage.
