Bo_Lorentzen Posted March 17, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) It is done, my Digilux 3 returned from katzeyeoptics today with a new focusing screen with splitscreen and microprisme. Â Â Having mostly used cameras with clean focusing screens for the last many years this is a really odd feeling, however it finalized the completely manual feeling of my digilux and having done a quick test with a few manual lenses it seems to work perfect, at first I had a out of focus series, but I have not been able to repeat that problem so far, so for now I am concluding it was a pilot error and that other than me there is nothing wrong with the camera. $200 incl shipping and labor. Â Im working on a bit more extensive review here - please le tme know if there is anything particularly I should test and add to the page. Bo_Lorentzen Posted March 17, 2007 Author Share #3  Posted March 17, 2007 Reliy,  So far I would not say that its "in the way" think old-fashioned cameras. But having used autofocus cameras for years with a completely clean focusing screen makes the split-screen stand out at first look in the viewfinder.  Interestingly I find that when set to autofocus I pretty much forgot about the splitscreen and just looked at my image, but yes it does distract a bit for small details yes, however when photographing using manual focus I feel more comfortable with where my focus is placed, so I guess its a two way street.  Hmm I am back to edit this post. - having thought about it a little bit. if I did not particularly have a handfull of nikon glass which I would like to use, I would probably prefer the clean viewfinder with no focusing aids, however it does make the Digilux 3 / 4:3 very easy to use with manual lenses, and more so than most other digital systems because the 4:3 standard is shorter making room for a adaptor for the other brands of manual lenses  Bo  My Leica scratch page - random thoughts , pictures and such.
