Hartmonstr Posted March 16, 2007 Share #1  Posted March 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Sean at Camera West called on Wednesday to say he was getting a WATE on Thursday and here it is at my door on Friday. I got the Leica 21-28 finder because if its size and am very impressed so far with the whole package. (An IR cut filter is also on the way.)  Thought you might like to see its relative small size compared with the 50 Lux and 28 Cron, and how it looks on the camera.  Only took three shots with it so far, one at each focal length. For those who are interested, the metadata lists them all as taken at 18mm.  Very sharp at each length. I'll make some images worth posting over the weekend.  John  PS - Sean said that he is getting Tri-Elmars on a weekly basis for anyone still looking. Advertisement Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Hi Hartmonstr, Take a look here No wait for WATE. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted March 16, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 16, 2007 Wait till you put the filter adapter and 67mm IR Cut on it... It would be interesting to know how many of these they are making. I got mine 5 weeks ago and the serial no is only 60 or so less.
Hartmonstr Posted March 16, 2007 Author Share #3 Â Posted March 16, 2007 On my walk to the Post Office this evening I found a suitable subject to test the WATE's resolution. These are at 16mm (21mm) at f/8. The first image is the full frame, and the other two are at 100% crops. In order to make it under the forum's posting size limit I had to "squish" the closeups in ImageReady, so there's actually a bit more information than what's visible on screen. Â The performance is really quite good - certainly no compromises in image quality, and at this price there shouldn't be... Â John
Englander Posted March 16, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted March 16, 2007 Mark, Once again, serial numbers seem to mean nothing. A brand new lens delivered last night from authorized Leica dealer in USA is -300 than John Hartmans. Both delivered within 24 hours in USA and one is in 600's and the other is in the 900's and yours in 800's. Mine is also in 600s but was delivered several weeks ago.
