Something I've noticed whilst handling my M3 (with love)

Recommended Posts

People say that the larger M3 engraving designates that the camera is ELCAN (Midland) manufactured even though it's marked Wetzlar. According to the collectors, any M3 that has a top plate that's engraved 'Made in Midland, Canada' is considered a rare ELCAN M3. The camera I posted above is made in Canada (the serial numbers fall within the M3 batch made in Canada in 1957.)

I've personally never seen any written documentation about this, but that seems to be the general consensus.
