jrc Posted March 15, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 15, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Now that the M8 rush has slowed a bit (I see that B&H has both silver and black in stock, and there have been quite a few in-stock notes floating around) perhaps it would make sense for Leica to extend the 30 percent reduction to a *new second-body M8* for registered owners of a first body. I have a 30% off note that I may not use, because I really haven't decided that I want a WATE...and I would be slow -- very slow -- to buy another body at $4800 with the current problems. For $3360, however, I might take the risk. 8-) Â JC
Advertisement Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Hi jrc, Take a look here 30% off hint to Solms. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stephengilbert Posted March 15, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 15, 2007 John, Â I think that Leica's dealers would be unhappy with your idea. While Leica could probably make as much or more selling directly at a 30% discount, they'd be hurting their dealers. They have to balance the interests of the dealers with the interests of the M8 owners who might buy another body. I think if sales slow they'd be more likely to offer a rebate as they did in the past for film bodies: you buy a camera and get a check from Leica. James Mitchell Posted March 16, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted March 16, 2007 Also, many people who buy a second would consider doing so only to sell it for a tidy profit.
cnguyen Posted March 16, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted March 16, 2007 I know for a fact that Leica USA did not like the idea of Leica Sohms gave the 30% discount to their loyal customers. I doubt if it ever happen again. But you never know....
marknorton Posted March 16, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted March 16, 2007 So, you buy a Noctillux using the 30%, sell the lens on the 'bay at a profit and use that to subsidise the purchase of a second body.
