Need some direction regarding Portra 160 135

Need some help pointing me to the correct thread regarding Kodak's discontinuance of subject film. I ran across a few threads but they deteriorated into Kodachrome and film vs. digital tangents.

Is Porta 160 NC production done, or being sold as part of Kodak restructuring? I see it's still available at B&H and Adorama.

Thanks.

Two letters make a big difference.

A couple of years ago, Portra 160 NC (neutral color saturation), along with the optional Portra 160 VC (vivid color saturation) - were replaced by a single film: "plain" Portra 160 without any saturation designation letters, and saturation in-between its predecessors.

Some stores may still have stock of the old films - we had 160 NC or VC in the store refrigerator for 18 months after Kodak ended production. There is a "pipeline" from maker to distributors to retail outlets that takes time to empty once a film (or any other product) is discontinued at the source.

But B&H and Adorama no longer sell the "old" NC and VC films (note the "discontinued" notice): Kodak Portra-160NC 135-36 Professional Color Print Film 1777127

They do sell the current film.

Ok. Thanks for the info.

I have some refrig'd NC which I am going to shoot and see if it's any good. Haven't shot film in a long while, but I was cleaning out a closet this AM and ran across some prints shot with my R8 and 60 Elmarit and was just so impressed by the sharpness and clarity. Ergo, I figured I'd jump back in with some Portra, will also check out some film in the frig to see if it's still any good. It's WAY out of date, but I have some Portra NC, Velvia 50, and Provia 100F.

The 'new' Porta films are staggeringly good.
