Hi!

I've got some problem with my summarit 90. It's way out of focus... I suppose I have to do some RF adjustments?

However, since there are no problems with my Summicron 28 or Summicron 50, I suspect there is something wrong with the lens. Or, is it common that one lens can "misbehave" like this (i.e is it possible to have many, in my case three lenses, perfectly adjusted to the body or do I have to choose one as the "perfect match"?)

Well, I'll attach three pictures so you can see. The picture named "RF ok (near infinity)" was taken when the RF was perfectly aligned. The picture named "RF not ok (infinity)" was taken with the Summarit at infinity. However, the RF was NOT perfectly aligned at that moment.

The picture named "Summicron 50" is just for comparision (perfectly aligned RF)

/Thomas :)

Hi Thomas,

on my Summarit 90mm I found frontfocus at near distances with the M9. I phoned Leica and they told me that this problem is not uncommon for this lens together with the M9. Fortunatly I am living not far away from Solms, so I have brought camera and lens to the Leica-Service for adjustment. After that the combination is working well.

Ok, I suppose I have to send my gear to Solms...

You can start sending your Summarit to Solms. If they find a problem with this lens they will adjust it. If they don´t find a problem with the lens, they should ask for the camera and other lenses for adjustment. My experience re these kind of problems is that Solms are very generous, they have helped me with older products, the offer free pick-up service etc. Thomas - if you would like to know more details re my own handling of this, you can send me a PM.

Lycka till,

/Anders
