dave.gt Posted September 18, 2012 Share #21  Posted September 18, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just hope Leica takes their sweet time on coming out with the X3! I'm digging my new X2 for now and don't want to (can't afford to) be tempted again so soon  Jeff  And a fine camera it is...no worries, the next one will be a few years away at the earliest. Ruhayat Posted September 18, 2012 Author Share #22 Â Posted September 18, 2012 If they eliminated the flash to make way for a built in optical VF, I'm all for it. Â ...or eliminate the flash all together to allow more room for the classy engraving.

nikonian Posted September 20, 2012 Share #24 Â Posted September 20, 2012 Sensor 24x36mm, roughly 16mp collapsible 35mm Summicron or at least Elmarit basic optical viewfinder instead of flash, at least with focus led and indicator for external flash rest is pretty good already
Ruhayat Posted September 23, 2012 Author Share #25 Â Posted September 23, 2012 Well, after having the X1 for a few weeks and taking it with me on a couple of out-of-town weekend trips, I've decided the X1 is not for me. Not a good partner to my M7, at any rate. So I'm in the process of selling the X1 off. Â The image quality is excellent, but photography for fun is more than that to me - it's also about the whole photographic experience, of operating a sensible tool. At the moment, the X1 is not that, and I put it down mostly to the virtual, electronic focusing system. It's more like operating a computer than a camera, and it seems I never get on with focusing using a fiddly wheel or dial, the same reason why I ditched my Leica D-Lux 3 all those years ago. Â Everytime I click the shutter on the X1 I wish I had my M4-P with me instead. That just goes to show. If the X3 turns up with physical dials on the lens to control focusing and aperture like the old Digilux 2, I'll take another look at the X platform. But for now, it's back to m4/3 or the Fuji X10 for me.
digitalpowershot Posted September 23, 2012 Share #26 Â Posted September 23, 2012 Full Frame!!!
spylaw4 Posted September 23, 2012 Share #27 Â Posted September 23, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) If they eliminated the flash to make way for a built in optical VF, I'm all for it. Â It won't happen, but I have a degree of sympathy with the concept, even though there is nothing wrong with the EVF. If Leica consider it good enough for the M ..... etc etc
spylaw4 Posted September 23, 2012 Share #28 Â Posted September 23, 2012 Full Frame!!! Â Now that certainly won't happen.
robert_parker Posted September 23, 2012 Share #29 Â Posted September 23, 2012 Now that certainly won't happen. Â .....interchangeable lens......
digitalpowershot Posted September 23, 2012 Share #30 Â Posted September 23, 2012 Now that certainly won't happen. Â Why? Because it is "impossible" (like they said about a full frame M)?
Ruhayat Posted September 24, 2012 Author Share #31 Â Posted September 24, 2012 You don't need an EVF for a fixed lens camera. The same reason why Leica offers an optical add-on VF with it, I guess. Â It won't happen, but I have a degree of sympathy with the concept, even though there is nothing wrong with the EVF. spylaw4 Posted September 24, 2012 Share #32 Â Posted September 24, 2012 .....interchangeable lens...... Â And I am fairly sure that won't happen either.
spylaw4 Posted September 24, 2012 Share #33 Â Posted September 24, 2012 Why? Because it is "impossible" (like they said about a full frame M)? Â No - it may indeed be possible, but doing so would take the camera outside its intended concept, and target market.
digitalpowershot Posted September 24, 2012 Share #34 Â Posted September 24, 2012 No - it may indeed be possible, but doing so would take the camera outside its intended concept, and target market. Â Now I'm getting curious. What is the intended concept and/or the target market for the X? Do you think the tarket market will refuse a full frame sensor? The camera won't be bigger, like the Sony RX1 proved it can be done. Only the price could be a drift from the target market...

Do you think the tarket market will refuse a full frame sensor? The camera won't be bigger, like the Sony RX1 proved it can be done. Only the price could be a drift from the target market... Â price and not wanting to cannibalize the M line is the reason why the X series will never have a full frame sensor.... With the M-E going for approx USD5500 and another approx USD2000 for a new lens - why would the single lens shooter want to spend approx USD 7500 when they could spend half of that for a full frame Leica X series? Â It just doesnt make any sense for Leica to make a full frame X series
jolsen Posted September 29, 2012 Share #36 Â Posted September 29, 2012 I would like a X2 where I can screw off the present lens and attach my old M lenses. When using old M lenses I would like focus confirmation instead of auto focus, which is obviously not possible.
metalic mud Posted October 22, 2012 Share #37 Â Posted October 22, 2012 good luck selling your 'MINT X1' that already been dropped by the previous owner and has two dents on the top. Â think the dealer saw you coming. Â no offence. Â Â anyway, i own two black X1's, thought it was better value than one X2 but i may be wrong. Â with the X3 i would love to see it buit like my old M6 and with a quality display and level indicator like my sony RX100. Â also, would like it about the same height as the X1 with grip attatched, but without having to undo the thing everytime i need to get to the battery or card. Â would like a shutter button threaded, so i could add an extension. Â tilt up screen like the nikon P7100. Â that will do for now.
anupmc Posted October 26, 2012 Share #38 Â Posted October 26, 2012 An X3 physically identical to the X2 but with image quality as good as (or better than) my Sigma DP2 Merrill... I'd buy in a flash!
