Sticking Buttons may be cause my X1 to lock up

So, recently, I noticed two things happening with my X1. Occasionally, when scrolling down through the Menus using the 6 o'clock button (the bottom 4-way button used for AF/MF and menu scrolling), it sticks and the menu just keeps scrolling. No big deal, because I just hit it and it unsticks. Then, completely unrelated, I noticed that sometimes when I switch between AF and MF focusing, after awhile when the camera goes to sleep it locks up and I need to remove the battery. It's happened a few times.

Yesterday I called Mark at Leica USA about the lock-up issues and he says he needs to get back to me. I never mentioned the issue about the sticking AF/MF button sticking while scrolling through the menu.

Today Mark calls me back and he says after discussing with one of the technicians, that the technician thinks there may be a sticking button somewhere that's confusing the camera and causing it to lock up. I then tell Mark about the scrolling menu issue (same button as the AF/MF selection), and he says it is possibly the issue.

I guess I should send the camera in for repair. Any others with anything similar experiences?

MY X1 suffers from an issue similar to your problem with the button sticking, except the highlighting of the menu items jumps wildly all over the place. However, I don't think it is related to one specific button - it seems that pressing any of the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o' clock buttons sometimes causes this and I end up switching the camera off and on again to resolve it.

My X1 is currently on its way back to Solms to have this and a couple of AF issues resolved, along with a request to sort out the peeling skin. Not a particularly good track record for a camera purchased new nine months ago, and that has only taken 1500 images.
