I read here on this forum that Fomapan 100 rated at 80 and developed in Rodinal produces good results. Ok, I followed the advice and now have there rolls that are in effect over-exposed. I also over-exposed by 1/2 a stop on many shots that had shadows. Now I feel that my film may be over-exposed in general. Does that mean I under-develop? I have been using R09 1:50 for 9 minutes.

If you have not actually developed them yet, I would just go ahead and see what happens, at least on the first roll. R09 1:50 for 9 minutes is the same guidance I have received from a very experienced B&W lab professional, who also told me to rate Fomapan 100 at 80. Unfortunately I haven't done it yet, so can't advise you of the results from personal experience.

I would reduce the development time by 15% of the manufacturers recommended time and see how the contrast looks. Development controls the contrast of the negative. More development more contrast. Less development, less contrast. If you are going to error during development, error on the side of underdevelopment. If you overdevelop too much you could lose separation of tones in the highlights and you won't get them back.

I would just do normal development. I routinely over-expose b&w roll films by 1/2 - 1 stop and do normal development. I like the result - slightly lower contrast but more shadow details.

Frustrating I am unable to upload images from my Mac to this forum (apparently--find no instructions), because it would have been nice to compare notes on what makes an appealing image. I appreciate your comment because I think it may have helped me realize that I prefer more contrast in my shots, which suggests I should reduce development time and stop over-exposing.
