Firmware 1.092 glitches

After upgrading my firmware to 1.092 I have noticed the following troubling issues:

> Flashing/vibrating menu items -- I don't know how to even describe it. For instance, sometimes when switching my ISO speed the entire menu selection will VERY rapidly scroll (by itself) and then vibrate or twitch, grayed out, very much like a computer operating system glitch. It usually stops after another push of the SET button or turn of the selection wheel. I've seen it on other menu items as well.

> When reviewing images in PLAY mode, I will advance to the next image and the next image will flash on screen for a split second, then return to the previous one. The file number indication above the image will indicate you're on the next image, but the image is actually the previous one. A second or two of waiting, and it will eventually change. Fortunately, the images are all there, and fine, but it is very annoying and time consuming to work around this in the field.

> Have had one instance of a card with only three images on it reading as 'full' when placed back in the camera, and upon trying to format it it basically stuck... red light blinking for 10 minutes until I had to take the battery out (power button wouldn't power it off). That has only happened once so far.

I just wondered if anyone else is having this and if you would advise going back to 1.09 until the 1.10 upgrade. I know Leica advises against it, but these issues trouble me.

Thanks.

Tim,

I had the "full" card problem; when I pulled the power on the card the card would not format at all; it was dead. I would check the card itself if you're getting this error (I've had 20 SD cards well over a year for both the DMR and M8, and it's inevitable that one or two die every year or so. Same with CF cards and the Canons. It's un-nerving when it happens, though--that's for sure!

I've had this problem to along with when using the wheel to zoom in it will go to showing all the last images as thumbnails with one click of the wheel in the ZOOM direction

Haven't had any problems with any of the SD cards I have and NO vibrating menus. Actually I haven't had the fast scroll of the menus either. But then I don't use the wheel to scroll.

I'm on my third M8 - first died, second had focus and RF issues. Third seems OK so far. All of them have exhibited the issue described related to reviewing images. The first two were v1.09 and the current is 1.092, so this issue has probably been around for a while and going back to 1.09 won't help.

FYI i did just sent the laundry list to Stefan Daniels and we should see a reply to that this week . i will post the official statements from leica in it's own thread later this week when it returns.

I hope this will help many folks with the communications from leica and the list of issues that need addressing. I know Stefan should be back in Germany by now he left Sunday from PMA and was looking at 20 hours of flying time. Yuk that is no fun

Just a FYI Stefan Daniels is in charge of the M division and he is the guy that has the answers we are looking for.

Thanks for your patience on this area i know many of you feel frustrated and hopefully this will help.

Guy
