MP3 Posted March 12, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 12, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) In view of the various M8 failure instances, I believe Leica should seriously consider to extend Free warranty for M8 from current 2 years to at least 3 to 5 years. In particular, even my Digilux 2 have a 3-year warranty. Love to shot with it as we are, M8's level of reliability is obvious... Best Matthew

carstenw Posted March 12, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 12, 2007 Two things: first of all, if anything fails a year or something beyond the warranty period, yet looks like an M8 problem rather than a user problem, I am certain Leica will fix it at no cost. I have fantastic experience in this regard with my M6 from 1992. Secondly, presumably the problems will be ironed out in the next few months and beyond that, the cameras will become as reliable as Leica's reputation would indicate. I am sure that one year from now we will be joking about the early days, and the old hands will have a toughness for having come through it which the newscomers will look up to in awe. It isn't a coincidence that Leica still has a great reputation in spite of several difficult launches like this one. They follow up until it is right. Best Matthew 3-5 Years on an electronic device sounds like another good example of unrealstic expectations when it comes to Leica. ......
