M8 third party

Well...if it is true that the M8 sudden death syndrom is someways related to a battery issue, me too thinks it's better to stay away.

Anyways, a $15 battery replacement sounded tempting (even after having bought 3 originals at almost ten times each).

Best,

Ed

Thanks, I just ordered TWO!!

I doubt that the battery is the cause of all the recent and continuing M8 failures. Sounds like a faulty, or more likely, a poorly-spec'd component on the circuitry. Should my M8 fail, which it probably will sooner or later, my backup should be arriving back from Solms very soon (it has been two months now). I'll let you know.

BTW, I have an excellent idea for a travel charger. Maybe I'll test the battery in the charger.

Thanks again,

Dale

You're welcome Dale. Please keep us posted about the batts and your charger.

A faster, smaller charger is what we need.

Quote from the eBay listing:

My Company Sell is very high quantity Rechargeable Battery so we hope all my guest don't worry and we also made completely good service

Battery is based on Lithium technology for the ability to supply high current demands and for exceptional life.

The seller is in Hong Kong.

Yes, the M8 battery is earning someone healthy wealth at nearly $120 each. But, no, I don't think I'll be risking a $4,800 camera (that can only be repaired in Germany) on a $15 battery offered anonymously on eBay. If you don't think that a crappy battery can hurt your camera (assuming you get a battery at all) you should think again. If you think that Leica won't challenge your warranty if the camera's damaged by this battery you should also consider that possibility.

Remarkable.
