After a few days of use, today the camera started getting false WB reading in natural light and to have the familiar blue cast on most of the shots. I never had that with the old firmware.Just to put things in proportions, the WB issue is minor, in the sense that I can alway fix it latter (I never shoot jpeg), but it is pretty anoying. Â Besides, maybe it is different with different bodies, but I found the new pre-click very disturbing. somehow it makes the already not very quiet M8 much more noticable in quiet environment such as a concert. The other day I just put the M8 back in my bag and went back to using my reliable R-D1 simply in order to stop getting the naughty looks of the people around me in the concert. It was a "blue" instead of a "green" forest. I took me 10 seconds in C1 to get a proper result. BTW, the AWB of the 20D also failed under these conditions. Â I've pored through most of my M8 images and have not found any other default settings. As I shoot entirely in DNG it's easy to adjust. I think that's pretty well known, but given the other things Leica needs to fix, it's gotta be pretty low on their list. Â Just set the WB to daylight, or tungsten or whatever you're shooting. Voila. Or better yet, shoot white piece of paper under the light you're shooting as a custom WB. Or better yet: shoot a gray card in RAW and click-balance with C1 or ACR later.
