Guy, I don't know if your search for suggestions for M8's next firmware brought this one up, and I don't even know if it's at all possible only in firmware (maybe the sensor won't allow it), but here goes: how about some slower ISO speeds? 100 and even 50?

Im not speaking for Guy of course, but Im pretty certain that cant be done. maybe Michael or Mark will chime in and give the technical response.

But what you have at 160iso is the baseline.

cheers

The main sensitivity range of a sensor is preset by hardware - s it should be possible to change this range maybe towards lower ISO values, but this is is. The range cannot be extended.

So no way in my feeling to do this by FW:

Olivier, the higher ISO levels are set by amplifying the analog signal, and there is a fixed distance from the lowest to the highest, so lowering the base ISO would mean lower high ISOs. Maybe they can do it in the next camera, but for this camera I doubt that they would want to incur that compromise.
