Hi, I'm looking for some wisdom here!!!

I recently got my hands on this little lot - http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-collectors-historica/239892-leica-job-lot.html

So far I've still got it all, but thats another story......

Having started to work my way through getting bits and pieces CLA'd my attention has finally gotten round to the Leicaflex SL.

The camera appears to function well although I need to get a battery to test the meter. One thing that isn't right (unless I miss something obvious) is the following.

The mirror remains in the up position, I need to lock it down manually, it does not return when cocking the shutter??

Help greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Jason

Does the DOF preview button move freely? If it's stuck pushed in the mirror will stay up. Or if the mirror/aperture stop down lever return spring is broken (IIRC) it will cause this problem.

One thing to be aware of is a sluggish self-timer. If the self timer doesn't complete its cycle the camera will be jammed.

Thanks, if I reset the mirror manually then the DOF preview works, once the shutter is fired and I move on the winder the mirror does not move and the DOF button is then limp. I'm then resting the mirror with the little lever on the left (sorry not the most scientific description..)

Cheers

Sounds like it needs a trip to your favorite repair shop.
