trond Posted September 19, 2012 Share #81 Posted September 19, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear Lars, I have both the SX35FLE and the SE21. Both bought new in the spring of 2012. Both lenses have identical hoods marked 12465. Both of them have quite loose threads, so they easily turn inadvertently. Best regards Trond
Advertisement Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Hi trond, Take a look here 35mm Summilux FLE. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lars_bergquist Posted September 21, 2012 Share #82 Posted September 21, 2012 Trond, my hoods work exactly as advertised. The behavious of your specimens is puzzling. Do use a magnifier to check if both lens–hood sets have a full complement of 2 friction rings. If they do, complain with Leica. If they don't, complain with Leica … The old man from the Age of the IROOA
01af Posted September 27, 2012 Share #83 Posted September 27, 2012 Do use a magnifier to check if both lens-hood sets have a full complement of 2 friction rings. There's only one O-ring to provide friction to the screw-on hood, not two—and that one is on the lens. The hoods don't have O-rings.
Rick Posted October 3, 2012 Author Share #84 Posted October 3, 2012 The rattle is normal. Yes, the lens is really very incredible. Paul, I agree that the rattle is normal... for some copies. And, for some copies, it is normal to not include the rattle feature. My lens from 2010 had an extremely faint rattle. I could shake the heck out of it and just detect what people were concerned about. Never bothered me. When I got it back from Leica NJ for service of the scratched barrel the rattle was 10x louder and I could feel something moving inside. Normal? I sent it back to Leica and it is now dead silent. Normal? I just want people to know that Leica can fix this if they want.

andyedward Posted October 3, 2012 Share #86 Posted October 3, 2012 Can anyone tell me how to identify the FLE from the previous model? I'll go to pick up a 35 lux on friday, but want to make sure its the fle I'm paying full price for. I forgot that I own the 8th edition leica pocket book, which states the fle lens hood screws on, whereas the older version doesnt. I've also seen images of the older version with a larger hood in comparison to the lower profile of the latest model. BTW, does anyone know why the more desirable leica lenses pop up form time to time, despite being on back-order? Are they rejected by the people who ordered them months previously? I'll go to pick up a 35 lux on friday, but want to make sure its the fle I'm paying full price for. The FLE is no. 11663 and has that number stamped on the underside near the mount. wattsy Posted October 3, 2012 Share #88 Posted October 3, 2012 It also has a threaded screw-on hood. The previous version has a less well engineered hood with a locking collar.
mmradman Posted October 4, 2012 Share #89 Posted October 4, 2012 Also by serial number, for a brand new lens from about 416****, started life at about 412****.
insomnia Posted October 13, 2012 Share #90 Posted October 13, 2012 Anyone tried to fit it on another 46mm lens with similar hood (24 and 21 Elmars)? Well, I got mine (the threat protection ring / Abdeckring) today and it fits the 24 Elmar - though it is a bit too long, that was to be expected looking at the Summilux's front geometry. Paid 8€ plus shipping.
