footnoteblog Posted March 11, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 11, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is the latest non-battery-operated incident meter? Leica? Are they accurate? Considering getting one instead of lugging the Sekonic. Â Perhaps this belongs in the collector's forum, but I actually use these things (not collect). ron110n Posted March 11, 2007 Share #2  Posted March 11, 2007 Is the latest non-battery-operated incident meter? Leica?  The Leicameter and other non battery light meters actually have a battery and that is called the selenium cell. I have no experience with a Leicameter but I have an older 1980 Sekonic L398 Deluxe that is powered by a selenium cell . With accuracy, I don't know any built in camera meter that's more accurate than a hand held. In other words the hand held rules. Though the Nikon F100 has the most accurate meter and programmed to 10 Zones. Yet the Minolta, Pentax and Sekonic Spot Meter are still more precise.  I use a Sekonic L758 on my M3 so I can spot.  You will get more response to this subject at the Film Forum since many colleagues use a meterless film camera; unless you want to meter on digital. And yes, I do hand held metering on digital.  Best, -Ron  Creature of Habbits or the Caveman within
