Mixalis Posted July 23, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted July 23, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've lost the rubber eye protector from my 36mm Leica brightline viewfinder. Does anyone know of a supplier, preferably in the UK? I imagine Leica will charge a fortune.
Advertisement Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Hi Mixalis, Take a look here Source of rubber eyepiece for X1 viewfinder. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Mr_Jones Posted July 23, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted July 23, 2012 I think the price is fixed by Leica. They can't be super expensive and they do like to disappear. I complained about the lack of a drop of glue in the design when mine went missing.
threeputt Posted July 23, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted July 23, 2012 You can try DAG DAG Camera Parts I've gotten oddball things from him now and then. Â Jeff
symmetron Posted July 24, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted July 24, 2012 My first rubber eyepiece cover got lost. I lost the first one even though it was glued...guess the glue didn't work. Â In the U.S., I contacted Leica in NJ, and they simply sent me another rubber eyepiece. No charge. I suspect Leica will provide a replacement for free of you ask. Â On the current one, I used some double-backed tape to hold it on and it has stayed on even after constant use on a two week vacation. Â Good luck. Phil U Posted July 24, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted July 24, 2012 I think the price is fixed by Leica. They can't be super expensive ... Â Price fixed by Leica not being super expensive? Don't bet on it!! Â p.s. seriously though, to the OP - I'd email Solms and I dare say they will send one for free. Worth a try?
Mixalis Posted July 24, 2012 Author Share #6 Â Posted July 24, 2012 Thanks everyone for your advice. I did a trawl of London Leica dealers but ended up at Leica Mayfair where they've ordered one for delivery in ten days or so. Since my two-month-old M9 is currently back in Solms after failing to switch on, perhaps they will take pity on me when it comes to such a paltry bit of rubber. I take heed of the advice on glue and will try to make sure the replacement stays put.
