heinerpattaya Posted July 21, 2012 Share #1 Posted July 21, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I was always a bit skeptical about Leica, regarded the cameras as Rip Off (V Lux 3, D Lux, the Leica OLY view finder, etc) or just overpriced compared to the BIG TWO. Until I subscribed to LFI magazine! This is the best photo mag in the world, wonderful photos, excellent paper. I will buy ALL available back issues. Now I begin to understand what Leica means. I use a Leica lens in my Lumixes (FZ 28 and 45), Elmarit 2.8 zooms. Most of you will now laugh about me, but this “Leica for the poor” many times outperforms my Nikon DSLR. Especially the FZ 28 has colors to die for, the B&W is sensational. The M 9 is out of reach at the moment (I could have the money but I am not there yet to spend that money, I live in Thailand and my secretary has to work the whole year for a M 9 body and I pay her well!!) Can I start with a second hand 28 mm Elmarit or similar and attach it to a FF body like the Canon 5 D first edition? This Canon makes excellent photos (the best on flickr at least for me). And it available for 850 $ second hand. I don't want to go for M 4/3 like the new OMD as it becomes 56 mm then. Next would be a 90 mm and in 2 years the M 9 body. What would be the suggested adapter for M lenses to canon FF? Your help would be very much appreciated. I will post on 2 or 3 Leica blogs. Shoot more, read less. Best regards Heiner
Advertisement Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Hi heinerpattaya, Take a look here M lenses for Canon FF. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted July 21, 2012 Share #2 Posted July 21, 2012 You can use most R lenses on your Canon SLR very easily and the quality will surpass any lens on your Panasonics. Lots of people do this (I use mine on a Nikon) If you wait a couple of months, Leica may well release a camera which will take M and R lenses, and others, via adaptors. This camera has been a long time coming but will be very interesting to lots if people.
