Willy Fog Posted July 18, 2012 Author Share #21  Posted July 18, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) The answer is yes. The 28 is a narrow wide. I use my 28 mainly indoor or in crowded places But as a wide, it's not wide enought.  The 35 is a wide normal. its a very versatile lenght  As a first lens, 35 is a much better choice  Franco  Ok, the 35mm will be my choice  Thanks

menos I M6 Posted July 18, 2012 Share #22 Â Posted July 18, 2012 I wouldn't go for a pre ASPH 35 Summicron these days - the nice ones are crazy expensive. The latest 35 Summicron ASPH is a wonderful (but modern) lens - means: rather heavy for it's compact size, super sharp, contrasty + close focussing. Â For half the money one get's a mint copy of Voigtlanders best built, fastest (but also biggest and heaviest) 35mm lens - a lens, hard to beat for the money @ about 900 USD for a version one. Â Still a bargain is the wonderfully performing Canon 35/2 LTM, going for a bit more than half the cost of the fast f1.2 Voigtlander. Â Personally I don't like much the Voigtlander 35/1.4, but it is also a great starter lens. Â Beautifully built and nice performing classic lenses are the Leitz 35/3.5 Summaron and later f2.8 Summaron lenses (the latter ones getting fairly expensive now too). Â Japanese Zeiss glass is available new under 1000 EUR too, but I have no idea about those (they stop in darn 1/3 stops, making them incompatible with my brain). Â Most other options are way above budget (you named it before). My personal favorites in 28 and 35mm: Â Leica 28 Summicron Leica 35 Summilux ASPH Leica 35 Summilux pre ASPH Â Any 35 mm, that will be mentioned in this whole thread will likely will you do perfectly as a nice starter lens. just keep it at that one lens for a while and you should be good.
