k-hawinkler Posted July 14, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted July 14, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I screwed a heliopan ES 49 lens hood onto the 75 Summicron. When I unscrewed the heliopan, I accidentally also unscrewed the ring that holds the 75 Summicron integrated lens hood in place and that hood fell off. Â Although the integrated lens hood doesn't seem to work very well, I put the pieces easily back in place, as without them the 75 Summicron looked a little bit funny. Â So, now I know what to pay attention too to make sure I don't accidentally lose parts of the lens when I am out shooting.
Advertisement Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Hi k-hawinkler, Take a look here APO-Summicron-M 1:2/75 ASPH lens hood came off. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
michali Posted July 14, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted July 14, 2012 K-H. I had the same thing happen with my brand new 75mm Summicron several years ago as I took it out the box. The retaining ring was loose and it came off in my hand along with the lens hood. It looked like a bit of a flimsy arrangement with this ring which holds the hood in place. Â If I recall I pushed it back into place and turned it as well, I was very tempted to use Locktite (sound familiar?), but thought better of it. Â Since then I've always been extra careful whenever extending the lens hood. Always twist and lock the hood into place when it's extended.
