AJB Posted July 13, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted July 13, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Despite me saying when I joined this forum a few short weeks ago that I would not buy an X2 now that you can buy a full very slightly used X1 with all the toys for around half an X2..... the X1 has become mine and my wife is as of today X2 equipped. Â We have had a short play and image comparison. We will have to seek advice on what more experienced members consider to be the optimum menu options for the photography we do: is mainly street shooting, candid portraiture and horticultural shots (the latter exclusively my wife). Â So far we have only compared JPEG images and there is not much in it except the X1 seems a tad sharper. Will report further as the weekend progresses. Â No shots have been "processed" - just downloaded into Aperture 3 (I know the camera comes with Lightroom, but we have a massive library in Aperture already). Â AJ Â PS: Is there a thread somewhere that gives an idiots guide to posting up mages into the forum?
Advertisement Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Hi AJB, Take a look here X1 v X2. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Indina Posted July 13, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted July 13, 2012 AJ, you can sell the LR licenses to gain some bucks back. I did it since I also use Aperture. Â Cin Cin
AJB Posted July 13, 2012 Author Share #3 Â Posted July 13, 2012 Ah. Never considered that. Thank you. AJ
nickma Posted July 13, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted July 13, 2012 Brilliant, look forward to your real world experience of the two cameras, comparatively. Â It'll be nice to have regular users' perspectives, able to use the 2 cameras over a period of time, and also able to validate each other's conclusions. Â Good for you, now... Â Bring it on! JOM51 Posted July 14, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted July 14, 2012 My reply is about Aperture versus Lightroom. I was a long time user of Aperture, but since I bought my X1 I started checking Lightroom. In my experience Lightroom 4 is much better than Aperture for processing the DNG Leica files. The difference is huge. Before having the X1 I had a Nikon D90 and both Aperture and Lightroom 3 were similar. But now the results of Leica X1 and LR4 are really the best.
