jferebee Posted July 13, 2012 Author Share #22 Â Posted July 13, 2012 I'm getting lots of good ideas. Read Rockwell's Leica lens reviews last night, all of them. Now my brain is in over load and want them all. Â One thing I did not see, but could have missed, is mention of film vs digital when it comes to lens choice. I did see some comments about certain lens performing better with the digital M's and full frame vs crop. So without getting in the discussion about types of film and filters etc, would it be a fair assumption that there isn't a lens that is a better option for film? tobey bilek Posted July 13, 2012 Share #23 Â Posted July 13, 2012 By 2.8 or 4.0, the modern Elmars look as good as anything. Â The older I get, the less fast glass impresses me. The go to kit for film is 35 2.0 V4 , 50 2.8 & 90 4.0 .the two collapsibles are the latest versions. 35 2.0 I have had for 25 years.
jferebee Posted July 20, 2012 Author Share #24 Â Posted July 20, 2012 I thought I would post an update about the quest for a lens for a new old M6. Â I decided to rent a couple of lenses and have been using the 35MM f/2 Summicron this week and have just got my first role of film back. Some nice clear shots but disappointed with the overall quality of the development work. I shot Ilford XP2 400 and took it to Costco. Lots of white streaks in some of the scans and others were fine. Â Sent the 35 back and a 50MM f/2 Summicron arrives today. Going to use the Ilford 100 Delta this time and take it to a real lab to check out the difference. Â We'll see how the 50 works out and maybe a 28 before making a final decision. Â I know there are quite a few options for film so I'll have to experiment with that to see what I like best. Â Do any of you shoot in color and convert to B&W in LR?
