Shootist Posted March 9, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have 2 lenses that use to work with hand coding with 1.09 firmware. They are a 90 Tele-Elmarit and the 24 f/2.8. But now that I have loaded the new 1.092 firmware neither lens show up in the info or in the EXIF. I have removed the coding and re-applied but neither gets read. Is it possible Leica changed something in the new firmware to stop all the hand coding going on. Advertisement Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Hi Shootist, Take a look here Hand coded with new firmware?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rami G Posted March 9, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 9, 2007 I want to believe that it is not intentional. It will be really offensive to learn that while they did not find the resources to bring the firmware to its complete form as they have promissed, they wasted their time, their resources and our time in order to downgrate things even further. In general, I think it would be appropriate to expect that Leica will allow manual choice of lenses throught the firmware like in my Kodak slr/c and other cameras. Â I notice on both the M8 and the DMR, Leica doesn't write the exif the same as other cameras. The lens shows up in the focal lenght field, but not in the lens field. steich Posted March 9, 2007 Share #5  Posted March 9, 2007 not only that my hand coded 2/35 still appears in the EXIF, also my UNCODED 2/90 is recognized correctly since I updated to 1.092;-)) The guy at Leica´s info hotline said, maybe it could have to do with the screw that is placed in in the lens mount right over the sensor. Maybe this "hole" is read as "black mark"...anybody else had this experience? Stefan
mr_big Posted March 9, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted March 9, 2007 My hand-coded 35mm Sumicron didn't show up initially after the update, but then started showing up later on. Could be an inconsistancy due to sloppy coding on my part.

Stefan  Stefan, as I too noted before, my uncoded 90mm Tele Elmarit also shows correct, including max aperture.  There is indeed a screw there - what foresight:p - but it does not seem to be the right code. But who knows? I am happy with this.
scho Posted March 9, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted March 9, 2007 I just hand coded a Zeiss 35mm f/2 Biogon as a 35mm f/2 Summicron. Worked perfectly with new firmware. http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/18334-has-anyone-used-coded-35mm-f2.html
arthury Posted March 9, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted March 9, 2007 All my self-coded lenses are working perfectly with EXIF indicating the right lens, including the ZM 21mm.
