Clive Murray-White Posted July 6, 2012 Author Share #21 Â Posted July 6, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) May be , I don't get it; but there is one answer: 28mm Summicron.....equally as good on the M8 as on the M9 or....... a potential M 10! One of the best lenses ever made, where am I missing the point? Â Cost is a consideration for me - if it wasn't I'd gone out and bought an M9 and just continued to use the Nokton 35/1.
Advertisement Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Hi Clive Murray-White, Take a look here 28mm fixed focus lens for M?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gjames9142 Posted July 7, 2012 Share #22 Â Posted July 7, 2012 Clive, Sean Reid warns about this constantly. The really good price comes at the cost of quality control. I have never heard any problems with Zeiss, and as I said, the 25 Biogon is as good as anything out there. My 35 2.8 Biogon is so sharp that it creates artefacts on my M9, so I don't use it. It could be really good on the Monochrom.
gjames9142 Posted July 7, 2012 Share #23 Â Posted July 7, 2012 Steven Gandy at Camera Quest is the best source of CV. The 28 Color Skopar is sold out. I stand by the version 4 Elmarit, (46), which is a very sophisticated lens with a plano front element, and which you can find for a reasonable (for Leica) price. Clive Murray-White Posted July 10, 2012 Author Share #24 Â Posted July 10, 2012 I've wound up with an eBay Ultron, it's arrived already and despite my fears seems to be very nice indeed - next step studio pano when I get a minute.
