sparkie Posted March 9, 2007 Share #1 Posted March 9, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone have any idea what sizes Leica is offering? I read in a post there are only 7 or so sizes. And are they rebadged B+W or "other" filters? or is are Leica ones better/deiiferent to the B+W 486's
Advertisement Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 Hi sparkie, Take a look here Leica IR cut filters – what sizes?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
arthury Posted March 9, 2007 Share #2 Posted March 9, 2007 Actually, can anyone confirm that the Leica IR-cut filters are exactly the same as the B+W 486 IR-cut filters?
Shootist Posted March 9, 2007 Share #3 Posted March 9, 2007 Actually, can anyone confirm that the Leica IR-cut filters are exactly the same as the B+W 486 IR-cut filters? I think the ring that it is mounted in will be different then the standard B+W filter. Almost every Leica filter I have ever seen had a slim ring so it will fit inside the Leica hoods. I have no idea if the glass and coating are the same as the B+W. I think Carsten and maybe Sean Reid have the real Leica filters and more then likely B+W models so they might know if there is any difference. woodyspedden Posted March 9, 2007 Share #4 Posted March 9, 2007 Leica have reported that their filters are superior to all the commercial IR Cut filters currently on the market and that optimum performance will only be achieved with their branded products. Rumor has it that they are made in Japan by Hoya but then rumors are just that.
steich Posted March 9, 2007 Share #5 Posted March 9, 2007 I can at least tell which size Leica will NOT offer. I sold an old 2/90 Canada ´cron because Leica will not sell E48 filters. (Yes I know B&W do, but I had another and newer 2/90 made in Solms). Stefan
