artichap Posted June 23, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi New user of the X1. Are the metering mode icons correct? Page 77 of the manual shows item 2.1.22 a) as centre weighted with no dot in the centre as multi-field with a dot in the centre and c) as spot metering. © looks correct, but the other two would make more sense the other way around or is this a typo? Is the 'Evaluative' mode that others refer to? Any comments from users please? Thanks

wda Posted June 23, 2012 Share #2 Posted June 23, 2012 Welcome to the forum, Artichap! You are right. Not the only error in the instructions manual. On page 76 section 2.1.5 there are errors in the battery indications. They seem to show the opposite of the true states.
artichap Posted June 23, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted June 23, 2012 Hi wda Thank you for the response. Didn't pick up on the battery indicators. I will have a look. I guess that the rectangle without the dot is the 'Evaluative' mode then? Many thanks
HiltonJoy Posted June 23, 2012 Share #4 Posted June 23, 2012 Thanks for pointing out the error. Edit: Just checked my manual again, Actually the icons and descriptions are correct, just not in the correct order. The in camera icon order and function is correct as below. The top icon for evaluative. The logic for me is the central icon is center weighted The dot icon is spot. The EXIF data gives: Pattern Center-weighted average Spot
artichap Posted June 25, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted June 25, 2012 Hi Hilton Thanks for the reply. My camera menu shows: 1st option white rectangle with dot, second white rectangle without dot and third dot only in this order. My logic reads these as centre weighted, evaluative and then spot. As the spot only refers to 'spot metering' you would think that the spot in the white rectangle would signify that the centre features in the metering in this mode. It seems not logical if the icons and descriptions in the manual are correct. Will look at the in camera data as described. Many thanks
