Checkland Posted June 27, 2012 Share #21 Posted June 27, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Portra 160 and portra 400 (good pushed to 800 if you need!) As others have said delta 100 but I also had some good results with HP5 and FP4 If in Umbria try go to Montone, will only need a half day there, sums up Umbrian life more than anywhere else for me, like a small Cortona but in Umbria. Best way I can describe it. I lost a roll of 120 there so if you find it...
Advertisement Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Hi Checkland, Take a look here Going to Italy- Need film recommendation. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Checkland Posted June 27, 2012 Share #22 Posted June 27, 2012 PS. I second the Gubbio advice. San Gimignano although popular I thought was more pleasant than Florence and not far from Siena. I would drop Florence altogether but then I'm not a big fan apart from the art.
sblitz Posted June 27, 2012 Share #23 Posted June 27, 2012 i can't see of any reason to go to Italy with b&w film. You can always convert to b&w digitally later if you want. to me the colors of italy are so important to capture.
DaveO Posted June 27, 2012 Share #24 Posted June 27, 2012 Portra 400 has much greater latitude and for some reason said to have finer grain?
Checkland Posted June 27, 2012 Share #25 Posted June 27, 2012 Portra 400 has much greater latitude and for some reason said to have finer grain? Portra 400 is simply incredible, nice grain at 800 for a colour film. here are some photos of me and a friend messing about fishing using portra 400 pushed to 800 (obvs. not the B&W ones.)
