tnturnerx1 Posted June 17, 2012 Share #4 Β Posted June 17, 2012 The Manfrotto 732CY carbon fiber to save weight (2.2#), paired with Manfrotto Ball Head 494RC2, paired with cheap (but very good!) Vidpro TC 22 tripod bag (22" long, about $13!), works fabulous. As usual, with most everything, I don't follow the rules. This tripod is a bit shorter than recommended. I'd rather save some weight than worrying about stooping a little bit. Worked wonderful for me on an extended field trip to China to take photos for TheArtfulToad.com. I carried it all day with no problem. The X1 (&presumably X2) paired with this tripod and bag makes an incredibly small package to take top-notch, quality photos. dickgrafixstop Posted June 28, 2012 Share #5 Β Posted June 28, 2012 I still like the old Leitz tabletop - without the ball head it folds up enough to be pocketable (even if it does look a bit like a weapon in a jacket pocket), is sturdy enough for the M9, and has a nice classic look to it. There's always something to prop it on so leg length/height isn't usually an issue. I also just bought a "gorilla" pod but haven't used it enough to form an opinion. (It is fun manipulating the legs though.)
Spaniard69 Posted June 28, 2012 Share #6 Β Posted June 28, 2012 I'm using a Manfrotto 732CY and KPS Research & Design ball head. Rather she weight when traveling.

The head is one of the finest available, with quick and positive locking.
