dchalfon Posted June 10, 2012 Share #1 Posted June 10, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) It is getting harder and harder to find chemicals other than d76 here in brazil where i live. And always expensive. I am planning to buy some hc110 on my next trip to london. Should i have any trouble transporting it (on the checked luggage, of course) on the plane? tobey bilek Posted June 10, 2012 Share #2 Posted June 10, 2012 Mail order. Trusted shippers will have less problems. Buy a scale , Ohaus tripple beam, and then chems from Photographers Formulary. Metal is the only D76 component that spoils,so I put mine in smaller jars, 2 oz. Grind a plastic spoon down so you can get out 2 gm from the small bottle. It costs a bit to set up, but over a lifetime you will save hugh money and you can make a liter at a time which lasts 6 months in full bottles. Chemical cost of a liter is around $1 or less. D72 is Dektol. Also easy to mix. I started this in 1960 and the amount of money saved I could not count.

Are you passing through the US on the way back? If so, TSA will probably open your case and they might get worried by something like photo-chemistry Mail order is the way to go - and powdered chemicals where possible, for weight reasons if nothing else.
