Rick Posted June 13, 2012 Share #2 Posted June 13, 2012 Have you found a fix for the crappy reds? Yes, the Z3200. It has the HP 73 Chromatic Red ink which is sooo luscious.
eyejockey Posted June 13, 2012 Share #3 Posted June 13, 2012 Yes, the Z3200. It has the HP 73 Chromatic Red ink which is sooo luscious. I use an HP Z3100 and to get good reds I've found that I need to use a semi-gloss/pearl paper and fine tune +5 or so on the Mac OSX print dialog as a default setting. Red and Matte papers can be a problem but tinkering with the print dialog does help.
Rick Posted June 13, 2012 Share #4 Posted June 13, 2012 The reds were a problem with the Z3100. So, HP came out with new ink for the Z3200 and at that time HP really pushed the fact that the reds were improved. Some people were not so happy because the Z3200 was basically the Z3100 with new Red Cart. People wanted to know why they couldn't just use the new Red in their Z3100? I really like my 44" Z3200 and have had it for probably 3 years now. I like the built in i1 spectrophotometer from X-Rite for ICC profiles. I think it is a very nice printer.
