Feudal1 Posted June 1, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted June 1, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm going to purchase a GorillaPod so that I can have a light, portable tripod with me at all times when taking my X2 (which I will hopefully be able to find here in the US at some point). There are two options, the "Hybrid" (GorillaPod Hybrid: Flexible camera tripod for hybrid, CSC, EVIL cameras) which holds up to 1kg of camera weight, and the "SLR Zoom" (JOBY GorillaPod SLR-Zoom - Portable, flexible tripod for telephoto lens cameras) which holds up to 3kg of camera weight. Â Does anyone have experience with one of these using an X1 (or X2)? I think I prefer the lighter Hybrid model, but is this going to be enough to hold the X1/X2 without strain? The "SLR Zoom" is a little taller (which is nice), but is also marginally heavier. Â Thoughts?

wda Posted June 1, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted June 1, 2012 I have the SLR model which I use occasionally with my digital M camera and my X1. It is marginal overkill for the X1, but so light. Occasionally I twist the legs into a small circle to enable me to form a low-level table-top stand. I took a good short time exposure in a church last month with this set-up resting on the floor. Â I also use it with a Manfrotto 494 B&S head which makes it a very flexible and versatile low-bulk support. Its legs will also twist around a chair back giving more mobility in a room. I doubt you would be disappointed with this model supporting your X1.
prk60091 Posted June 4, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted June 4, 2012 I have been using this with my X1 http://www.amazon.com/Joby-GP1-A1EN-Gorillapod-Flexible-Tripod/dp/B000EVSLRO/ref=as_li_wdgt_ex?&linkCode=wsw&tag=prk60091com-20 I think the ones you mention might be a bit of overkill and are a bit more expensive but should work fine. It is really only suitable for the light-weights.
