leicamann Posted May 31, 2012 Author Share #4 Â Posted May 31, 2012 Thanks folks for your kind comments. Â I am not completely happy with the outcome, not because the photo is wrong, but because I have set up a very difficult challenge. Â This particular hue of orange is the Achilles heal of ANY digital system. To the degree that a digital camera can capture orange/purple authentically is to the degree that it is capable of handling complex colour hues. Fortunately we are working from RAW and one can come back again and again to see what it is that I was missing. In this case "automatically" the reds and oranges will be exaggerated, the challenge is to "tame" and return the true colour, without losing the intensity, the above attempt you can clearly see that the grass in behind looks dull, muted...so I went too far..here is another whack at it. Â BTW this will also be true had I done it through film, the film would of course have perfect colour, nothing exaggerated, the problem is to be able to import that into the digital realm, this has been next to impossible until Ed Hammrick introduced DNG/RAW as an option in your scans.
