Since the Monochrome and a few months before a possible M10, do you think the M9 upgrade service to the M9-P will:

1.) Be less popular among our Leica people

2.) Disappear or

3.) Maybe go down in price??

Best,

Mark

The upgrade is both popular and profitable. It extends the warranty, the camera gets a through inspection and a cosmetic makeover, so I believe:

1. It will remain popular.

2. It will not disappear.

3. Leica never lowers the price on anything, so why start now.

Stephen, I already have the M9 extended warranty. If I got the upgrade will they extend the warranty on top of my extended warranty?

Thank,

Mark

Mark, that's a good question and one I do not know the answer to. Leica states that upgrade customers will receive a 12 month "warranty extension" which would seem to imply that the additional 12 months would be added to whatever warranty was remaining on the camera at the time of upgrade. I would definitely recommend getting confirmation on this from Leica NJ before sending your camera in.

Cheers,

1) I don't know, but I can imagine that everyone who wants to upgrade will have to do it in the coming years before the upgrading stops.

2) The upgrading will stop in two years after the arrival of the M 10. The same happened with the M8-M 8.2 upgrading. It will continue if the spare parts will be of the same size as the M10.

3) It may slightly go down in price, as it did with the M8.2 upgrading.
