Advertisement Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 Hi Moonshine, Take a look here Leica X2 EVF or OVF?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
brill64 Posted May 24, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted May 24, 2012 with the x1 the only choice was an ovf or none. with x2, it's obviously designed with the evf in mind but you can also choose an ovf..or none. even with all the added benefits, it's not something i want to use all the time so i'm on the fence with this one as you can see.. satijntje Posted May 24, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted May 24, 2012 EVF, this shows you all the settings as well! OVF, not really something for me, I sold it when I had my X1. Â But the EVF is really great! (Oly of course:-)) Â John
bill Posted May 24, 2012 Share #4 Â Posted May 24, 2012 Both - it's not going to cost you a fortune to pick up an OVF. Â Regards, Â Bill
Moonshine Posted May 25, 2012 Author Share #5 Â Posted May 25, 2012 Does the Oly lock into place as apparently the Leica one does? Is there any benefits to the Leica vf vs the Oly vf-2?
Fotograph Posted May 28, 2012 Share #6  Posted May 28, 2012 Does the Oly lock into place as apparently the Leica one does? Is there any benefits to the Leica vf vs the Oly vf-2?  Oly will not show the same colors as Leica display - you don´t find it in X2 menu
eelekim Posted May 28, 2012 Share #7 Â Posted May 28, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does the Oly lock into place as apparently the Leica one does? Â Yes, Olympus VF-2 locks well into the X2 hotshoe. The more I use it, the more I like it. Haven't compared it with the Leica one and don't intend to do so. The Olympus one is good enough for me. satijntje Posted May 28, 2012 Share #8  Posted May 28, 2012 Oly will not show the same colors as Leica display - you don´t find it in X2 menu  Then you have a faulty one, my OLY shows same pic as on LCD!!!  John
alred Posted June 2, 2012 Share #9 Â Posted June 2, 2012 Question... does the new EVF show the focus point,I have read that it shows shooting information just wondering about the focus point. Â Best to all.
satijntje Posted June 2, 2012 Share #10  Posted June 2, 2012 Question... does the new EVF show the focus point,I have read that it shows shooting information just wondering about the focus point. Best to all.  Yes, it does. It shows a white rectangle, and when you have successfully focussed, the color changes to green. If there is not enough contrast, it will be red. davidfung Posted June 7, 2012 Share #11 Â Posted June 7, 2012 Have an X2 on order. The Leica store had the EVF. Tried it. It makes the X2 IMHO really big and bulky. I have a OVF from Voigtlander. Nice and compact and will be using that. I just can't get used to an EVF. Even with my OM-D, it just doesn't really feel/look right. Probably the shutter blackout and slight delay for me. Guess the consequence of growing up with RF...
spylaw4 Posted June 8, 2012 Share #12 Â Posted June 8, 2012 I am impressed with the EVF on the X2. A considerable advancement from the DLux5 which although quite good when I tried it out at Photokina 2010 is now lacking. If there is the same leap in quality when (if) Leica go EVIL then the future looks bright! My one complaint........ I wish Leica had used smaller characters on the EVF, maybe even the cursive script a la MP. I will however not be getting rid of my OVF or indeed the X1 for the moment. Â You should have bought the Olympus EVF for less then half the price, the OLY has indeed the required smaller letters :D:D Â John
Spaniard69 Posted June 9, 2012 Share #14 Â Posted June 9, 2012 Same here. Bought the Oly EVF-2.
Feudal1 Posted June 9, 2012 Share #15 Â Posted June 9, 2012 Same here. Bought the Oly EVF-2. Â Same. Picked the Oly EVF-2 over the Leica version. Â I looked at both in the shop - the Leica version is exactly the same shape and size, and both have the same set of features. The only difference is that one says "Leica" and the other says "Olympus". The Olympus was $240, the Leica was $570. Having "Leica" written on my EVF isn't worth the additional $330.
