A la carte questions

1) I've read a few mentions to people ordering MPs with extra customization (besides the ones on the web configurator). Could you elaborate on what else people ask? What are your experiences?

2) Did someone here order the brown leather finishing ("ages well" as per the site) and can comment / attach pictures?

3) Some complain about a few plastic parts, if I understood correctly the viewfinder itself and the exposure counter. What else is plastic and "shouldn't"? Can you have those in the original material (glass?) ordering a la carte?

Thanks!

Options not part of the configurater include, but probably not limited to: black hot shoe, black shutter release collar, black frame counter with white lettering, and exclusions of parts of the classic script options.

Also I don't think Leica makes cameras with glass viewfinder and frame counter windows. So that would not be an option.

The main thing that made me go for a second hand à la carte MP when I found it: the frame lines. It has 35/50/90 only (0.72 finder - M2 set up, which seems not present in the regular options). The original owner chose blank black chrome and "vulcanit" covering. He had my MP made without knowing...

The black chrome wears slowly and with the brass underneath, it's beauty.

With the 0.72 there are three frame set options one of which is the M2 set, which is why I shoot an M2 ;)

Can happen anytime I forget spares...:D

My hit rate and speed using slide film with the M2 was even lower than now (that's what I am telling myself to justify the attraction to the MP). But agreed, I should never have sold the M2 though...

Bill, that's not nice.;) Your set is re-kindling my carefully stiffled wish for a M7 0.58 for 25/28mm... My CLE is ailing. The M3 covers the longer range in my set up.
