Hi Forum, made a little time lapse with my lovely Digilux 2. The movie is about the City Hall i had my prom more than 30 years ago.I used the letters of the halls sign as a sundial. One letter is lost and now you can read " Stadt alle" which means the city is down and out. And this is the real situation.

Thanks for your feedback.

I am using ACDSee Pro as the "photo lab" for colormatching of the single frames and Avid Adrenalin for the converting of the frames to a HD movie, editing, compositing and final grading.

The interval between the single frames had been 4 sec. (cause 4-5 sec ist the lowest stable contunuos interval with the DL2). In postproduction i had speeded up the result to 200%.

So mathematical it is a 8-10 sec intervall but on location i save every frame the camera will give.

And more time lapse stuff with the DL2 in the motion-pictures section of my blog

time lapse

In the time lapse "Making of" about a documentary work of mine i simply edit all photos i made (with the DL2 in speed mode) between the production.

making of "prey - stille meine liebe"

And in this set is the best still frame i ever made with the DL2

Thanks for your nice comment. And yes i am concerned at all about wearing out the D2 shutter.

But this will happen with every camera using for time lapse. And so it is a fantastic simulation of long run quality of the DL2 :-) Maybe Leica will support me for making this test when the DL2 shutter comes to its end.

The D2 shutter is almost silent, as I remember, which is also ideal for time-lapse. The Panasonic GH1 I currently use has a very noisy shutter.

You also use a motion head, may I ask what make this is?

It is a customized DS 2000 from Bresser. The development department of the company supported me a little bit cause they likes my stuff.

And to your question about wearing out the DL2 shutter: i have checked the hidden service menue of the camera and it looks like the Digilux have made more than 40.000 pictures until now - without problems.
