I would try experimenting with different scales of tree size and proportions ... starting with a horizontal frame maybe and a "hint" of lake.... Like I often say, we are drawn to a place or something, but sometimes it will not "reveal" itself until we have worked on it for awhile, then we "discover" just what that was, so photography then becomes a tool of sounding the depths of the subconscious, the image doesn't exist 'out there", but some instinctual apprehension that eludes our Mr Magoo Ego.  Thanks for sharing  Cheers, JRM Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

May I suggest to crop a bit the left dark side of the bark and then try to work on the texture probably to tone it down a bit and increase contrast to show the texture of the bright bark in order to balance it out with the blue background. The curly piece of bark should e more emphasized. Of course we can only look at it in this scaled down version here in the forum....  Thanks for sharing. That is what we all are working on...
