Why would I buy a D-Lux 3 intstead of a C-Lux ?......If I buy a non-Leica camera but shoot it through a Leica scope and adaptor would my posts be welcome on this forum. Dan Drabek is a really good photographer and forum member who has posted some cool digiscoped shots. He may not frequent the Digital Forum. You could search for his shots, and also email him. Â There was also an article on a guy from the Phillipines digiscoping with a Leica scope and a small Leica digital in some recent Leica publication. Great bird shots. miami91 Posted March 6, 2007 Share #5 Â Posted March 6, 2007 I've experimented with this and find it to be a right pain in the ar*e. The adapter is very finicky, and getting the thing set up correctly (scope set properly, camera zoom set properly, etc.) is a nuisance. Forget about the "decisive moment" --- this is really only good for photographing objects that aren't about to move or change position very quickly, such as the moon, or a distant building/monument. If using it for wildlife, I would think you'd have to frame a particular spot and then wait for an animal to wander in. Â Another thing: the shutter release can cause enough vibration to blur your image (think *really* long telephoto, which is what it is). So you pretty much have to invest in a cable release, if one is available, or use the self-timer. Since the self-timer involves several button clicks and settings, it also distracts from my personal enjoyment. Â As for pixels, I think either the C-Lux 1 or D-Lux2/3 would be fine, or any other contemporary compact digicam. I've tried it with both a C-Lux 1 and Lux3. Â Jeff. I've seen excellent results from others, and if you give it an appropriate amount of patience and diligence, I'm sure you'll get it to work. My difficulties probably stem from being somewhat inherently impatient, and just current circumstance (working long hours these days, not much time to fool around with things that don't come easily). The spotting scope is a lot of fun in it's own right --- I also have the Televid 77 (straight model), and enjoy using it from the windows and/or terrace of my downtown Mpls condo to "see the sights". Â By the way, are you in St. Paul, MN? Maybe you, Larry, and I should put out a notice for a Twin Cities Leica get-together, at least once the weather warms sufficiently. Â Jeff. Congrats to you for getting it done. I'll be in the 3K range with these additions to my hobby-life. Â Jeff: It would be fun to have a little leica get together as you suggest....I'm on St Paul's West-Side, not West St. Paul, just over the High Bridge.
