Question re LR4 and PS6

If I adjust images in Lightroom 4, what happens to those same images if I open the files in Bridge/PS 6. Do the changes I have made in LR4 show up in the bridge files??

Maybe this is a stupid question...but I am rather new to heavy duty software such as I now have.

Thanks

You have lots of options, depending for instance on how you set external editing preferences. I suggest you pick up the book by Kelby or Evening as there are different options and issues to consider in terms of how you open photos in PS.

Kelby, btw, prefers managing photos in LR rather than Bridge because the LR policies are clearer in terms of how files are opened for PS.

Either of the books offer tons of other tips that will save you lots of time and energy, as well as significantly increase your knowledge on how LR works.

There are no 'Bridge files'. There are image files (JPEG, DNG, etc.) that you can look at through Bridge.

With Photoshop 6, you cannot open DNG files at all—or any raw image files, for that matter. You can open JPEG files but you won't see any adjustments made with Lr 4 unless you saved the adjusted files. But I don't think anyone still uses Ps 6; that's twelve-year-old software.

In Bridge CS5 and CS6 and in Photoshop CS5 and CS6, all adjustments made with Lr 4 will show up. In CS5, you will need to update Camera Raw to version ACR 6.7 (i. e. the latest), and you won't be able to make further adjustments to raw image files that have been worked on with Lr 4 ... or only in a limited way. However you can open them without restrictions. In CS6, no restrictions apply at all; it is fully compatible with Lr 4.
