jrc Posted March 5, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 5, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) When my M8 crashed, I decided to leave the battery out for 24 hours to see what happened. Well, I couldn't stand it, and went back and messed around with it. When I put the switch to C, and held down the shutter release (so the red light came on), I realized that the light stayed on as long as I held the switch down. So I held the switch down, and simultaneously held down Menu, and after a few seconds, the menu came up. The top LCD was still dead, but all the switches on the back worked -- but only for so long as I held down the shutter release. The minute I let go, everything died. Â I did manage to disable the power-off selection, so I'm going to leave it on over night and see if running out the battery will do a reset. Â Now that I can see a bit of what I'm doing, I'm considering loading 1.091, to see if that helps. If anybody at Leica is reading this, and I shouldn't load 1.091, let me know before tomorrow morning, US central time... Â JC

robertwright Posted March 5, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 5, 2007 This seems to indicate the release has a lot to do with this-the part that Leica wanted to fix on mine before I exchanged it. Â Again, whether this is software or hardware is impossible to say.
