Was looking for more of a roller bag but decided this just may be better for location work since i can flip it open and all my gear should fit. Than just carry it around or put on top of my lights bag a Lowepro 2 roller. I still have the Image Smith and the Oskar one day and love those two but neither one can hold it ALL. So this may work. I don't care, really, what they look like, as long as they don't look like camera bags ) I use the Airport Security roller bag, not for airports, but to transport the R glass, the 5d and lenses, and the M8--with lenses and flashes. It rocks. I'm sure with a little juggling (and losing of flashes) the DMR would fit in there too. Professional photography equipment - camera bags, camera cases - from Think Tank Photo But it's really just for transportation, though it's also good for corporate locations where I can roll "all the stuff" with me. When I get to an (event) job, the cameras go around my neck and the lenses all go into a ThinkTank photo belt and harness. The airport bag stays at a secured place in the venue where I can get to it quickly. BTW--thank heavens for the M stuff It's going to be a lot easier on my back! I slipped while walking on a dock and the case fell in a lake for about 2 seconds before could snatch it out. Even so a small amount of water entered through the combo lock. One is to get from airplane to another city or country, the other from local location to another location. Than you have the shooting bag for maybe 2 bodies , the one day just want one or two things and only one body. The M system makes this a little easier because it is small . the DSLR stuff you really have to think of ways not to punish your back an also when flying with 2 bag check limit and two carry on. We keep getting forced to think differntly. I guess my reason to revamping this somewhat because some of it is just too damn bulky Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

I flew to Juneau last week and carried on board a Crumpler bag that fits my 17" Macintel with room for the M8 and a few bits. I also brought my ALICE bag for the lens and gizmo overflow and in case I wanted to walk around doing snaps, which I ended up not doing much of due to the extreme cold. I was able to grab the M8 and 24 from the Crumpler after going through security and have it ready while walking onto the plane so I could get this shot of Tinkerbell (attached). jrc Posted March 4, 2007 Share #10 Posted March 4, 2007 I got this bag at Best Buy -- I think it was $40. Sees well made, and comfrotably takes a 15 inch MacBook Pro in the padded back compartment. I have it set up to take six lenses in the bottom compartment, plus the camera with lens in the top. There are small additional pockets on the side for bits and pieces. If you replaced the rather hefty guts with padding from Domke, I think you could get eight lenses in the bottom compartment. This photo was taken with an R-D1, because the Leica quit this morning. I get a red light when I load a new battery, I get a blink when I press the shutter, and that's it. I'm going to wait a few hours to see if anything changes, but I think it's toast. I currently have a PB15" and am seriously looking at getting a MBP 15 or 17. I really want the 17" for the extra screen res, but transporting it on planes could be a real hassle when you are aonly allowed 1 carry-on..... The desire to carry an entire M8 system around with you (or, heaven forfend, an R system) appears to me not only more pathological than a lady with a shoe fetish, but more so than a gentleman with a ladies' shoe fetish. The only reasonable use for this kind of baggage would be the thought that I might suddenly wish to drown myself, and that a cannonball wouldn't be available. Two lenses, 28 and 75 mm downtown, or 35 and 90 mm out of town, covers 95% of everything. And in case you might wish for something else, comfort yourself with the thought that when you had changed the lens, the opportunity would have disappeared. The only exception to this is planned shoots -- in which case your needs are predictable, and there is even less need to bring the kitchen sink! The insufferable old man who used to backpack with his Leica P.S. Remember that lumbar ache and slipped discs are recognized occupational diseases of photographers. L.B. I have no idea if it is going to be big , small or what other challenge maybe thrown at you . Than you may do something completely different than what they told you. I'm not out here to say to myself why did I leave that lens at home. 2 bodies 7 or eight lenses plus accessories and portable flash system, plus your lights and whatever else maybe needed is normal for me.
