Hal Kerr Posted March 3, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted March 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Â I have had a Digilux 2 for a couple of years now and enjoy it .However I recently bought a V LUX 1 .It is in many ways inferior to the Digilux 2 apart from the mega zoom and the 10 megapixels, which brings me to my point. Could the Digilux 2 be modified to upgrade from 5 to 8 or even 10 megapixels ? which would improve the enlargement capabilities considerabley. The Panasonic FZ 10,20,30 and 50 have had the megapixel capacity increased with each new model. Can anyone assist ?. Regards, Hal Kerr.

audidudi Posted March 3, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted March 3, 2007 Could the Digilux 2 be modified to upgrade from 5 to 8 or even 10 megapixels ? Â So long as you remain within the laws of physics, anything is possible ... but at what cost? For the money you'd have to pay somebody to custom-engineer such an upgrade for your Digilux 2, you could easily buy an M8 and several lenses. Â Mind you, I like your thinking! As a Panasonic LC1 owner myself, there's nothing I would have liked better than for the L1/D3 to have been an improved LC1/D2 (and in some ways it is, which is why I have one of these, too!) but for various marketing reasons, 'twas not to be ... for now, anyway. Cross your fingers that Panasonic/Leica rethink things when it comes time to design the Digilux 5 (as specs for the Digilux 4 have no doubt been locked-in by now)... Lucklik Posted March 3, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted March 3, 2007 Â I have had a Digilux 2 for a couple of years now and enjoy it .However I recently bought a V LUX 1 .It is in many ways inferior to the Digilux 2 apart from the mega zoom and the 10 megapixels, which brings me to my point. I have also bought a V-Lux 1 recently. My D2 is to Leica with the sensor problem. Anyway with the V-Lux 1 you are able to shoot at ISO3200 (with a lot of noise) but it is much more compared with the ISO400 of the D2. If the V-Lux 1 would have 6M pixels it would have been a much better camera for me. (so I'm in for an upgrade from 10 to 6Mega pixels sensor, it should have much better results in available light) The V-Lux focusses much faster compared to the D2 The auto WB is much better. Like any camera it is a compromise. For my personal work I still prefer M6 and M7. But when my D2 is back, I'm convinced I will use the V-Lux 1 more then the D2.
