robsteve Posted March 3, 2007 Share #21 Â Posted March 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here is the visoflex with a 90mm APO Summicron ASPHmounted to it. The extension of the visoflex mirror box gets you pretty close. This was with the lens at infinity. Â

Guest guy_mancuso Posted March 3, 2007 Share #22 Â Posted March 3, 2007 Yea will probably just borrow the 100 apo macro from Linda . Not much out there that can touch the sharpness of this lens. Â But i am curious about the visoflex. Now here is were my lack of M shows i have never seen one of these and just out of curiosity what do you look for. Â I know the M is really not the answer but it is fun to explore the possiblities of it and i love pushing the M8 beyond the normal reportage mantra. wag Posted March 3, 2007 Share #23 Â Posted March 3, 2007 Guy, I thought I remember your being big on the APO 90. If so,why wouldn't you consider that? brad
Guest guy_mancuso Posted March 3, 2007 Share #24 Â Posted March 3, 2007 I honestly have nothing left in the R system except my 2 hold outs the Oly 24mm shift and the 180 f2 . I was going to buy the 28-90 but bills got in the way.
J_Brittenson Posted March 3, 2007 Share #25 Â Posted March 3, 2007 I have the 60 macro, which is a fantastic lens for a soft, smooth rendition. If I were in your situation I'd probably try this with an R-to-M adapter, measuring tape, and shoot tethered (to check exact focus and inspect specular edges). But I already have the lens. The only if-and-but here might be that the 60 has a more easygoing rendition than the 100, and for anything industrial or technology oriented I'd probably want a more clinical high-contrast look. For bigger objects I'd probably just use the 75/2A on the M8, it gets down to about a 10" field (or a little bigger) -- so a handgun, tool, toy, tableware, etc, it's great for all that. artur5 Posted March 3, 2007 Share #26 Â Posted March 3, 2007 Agreed, a DRF is not the right tool for macro but, if you haven't already a DSLR, is way cheaper to go the Visoflex way. Yo don't even need a macro lens. Just get a good enlarging lens, if you haven't none they come very cheap on Ebay. What I use is a Visoflex III + M bellows + M-LTM adapter ring + Componon 80/4 or a Rodagon 50/2.8. Of course you can use a bellows + enlarging lens on a DSLR as well. waterlenz Posted March 4, 2007 Share #29  Posted March 4, 2007 I agree 100% with Mark N. The 90 macro is, however, a very handy lens to have in your arsenal. This shot was done with the macro adapter, focused on the sand, on an M8. Not too much in the way of macro subjects this time of year in the frozen north ;->. Tom Welcome, dear visitor! Guest guy_mancuso Posted March 4, 2007 Share #30 Â Posted March 4, 2007 Thanks Tom , I am going to get that Visoflex III that looks like fun and more than enough to handle some of these little things which i don't do often. Besides I always like the challenge. Â The 90mm Macro still is in eyesight too. Been thinking about a 135 3.4 but man they do have a price tag on them. Well we all know that one with leica.
