Triptych Beetle

Driving back from an early morning meeting last week, my eye just glimpsed this parked beetle in the slanting early morning light. The three dominant colors of this particular composure jumped and begged to be captured by my M8 and its 50mm Heliar (w/486 IR-cut filter). I processed the DNG image with C1 and then through PhotoShop Elements 4 where I added some saturation and a desired distortion with a "glass" filter. To my eye, this ethereal veedub glowed with a wonderful iredescence from its every facet as it was illuminated by a low-on-the-horizon, glinting morning sunlight that we only rarely get here in perennially cloudy and always moist Tacoma.

An 11x16 inch Canon i9900 print now haunts a wall space in our home when its illumination by a ceiling spot brings out the same shimmer that first caught my eye last week.
